Candeze is an island girl. Growing up, the ocean was her playground and where her neighbors caught fish for food. When she moved away from home and became an environmental journalist, Candeze brought with her an ardent love for the sea, writing about marine issues such as unsustainable tourism practices which exploit whale sharks, coral poaching and coal plants which dump toxic wastewater in fishing grounds.

Now that Candeze is onboard with Oceana, she feels very fortunate to take a more active role to protect the oceans. Candeze sees the oceans as a source of life, pride, and stories—her home in every ebb and flow.
